Unable to get RSS feeds through a proxy server

I can't get TAB to access external RSS feeds through a proxy-server.  RSS feeds that are accessed internally are not a problem, and if I bypass the proxy-servers all feeds work fine.

RSS feeds work fine when I access them from either Thunderbird or Firefox.  Tbird and Firefox aren't configured to use a SOCKS server.

Any help is appreciated.

no place in TAMB for configuring a proxy
without anything, access to external rss feeds does not work (immediate error)
trying to give as socks proxy the normal proxy server brings an error after a long try time
Any help would be appreciated
