Recapturing my posts from my online server

I used to blog more often, but in 2005 my pc crashed and I had to get a new hard drive. I got discouraged because I could not find anyway to capture my post from the server and get it back on my pc.

I want to start blogging again, so does anyone know how I can get all the data off of my website onto my pc so that when I post, all the history (over 45 posts) isn't deleted or wiped out? How do I reclaim all my posts back to my pc?

Well, one way I can think of that will produce text files that you can edit back into your blog is to set up a text file printer and select it to print your blog directly from the browser.

To set up a text/file printer in Windows, just add a new "local" printer and select "FILE" as the printing port. For a printer manufacturer select "Generic" and for a printer select "Generic / Text Only"

Of course, all the graphic elements will have to be "Right-clicked" and "Save picture as..."'d individually, but there isn't much more you can do about that.

You can (perhaps) download your entire website with Endsheet (http://www.tipue.com/products/endsheet/) and save the results as an xml file and then import.

Or save the entire website (all html pages) with a downloader (http://www.httrack.com/) on your harddisk and the try to make rss
entries for all entries (don't see how right now, but it could be done).

This is definitely a weakness that Thingamablog should look into. I've read across the net that there are others who are frustrated that they can't recapture their posts from their server. This seems a bit archaic in my opinion. Any other suggestions? I'm am going to try the second suggestion to see how that works out. I'll try to repost my results.
